Extra Quarantine: Defender's Quest 2 Progress for April 2020

Progress report for May 2020 -- quarantine is hard, but we still did some stuff.

Hey folks! Time for another monthly progress report.

I'm afraid this month there isn't going to be a new build, for a couple of reasons.

The first reason is that this month we've been working on our art pipeline, and that's the sort of thing that we don't want to introduce into the game build itself piecemeal until we've got something fairly complete to present, so that we don't have a bunch of random assets with no context jumbled haphazardly together. It will probably be a while before this stuff starts making its way into the monthly progress report builds, but rest assured that part of the project is under way.

The second reason is that due to some unique circumstances, only about half of which I can talk about just yet, this month has been particularly slammed for me. The first half you can probably guess though – I have three small children, and we're into our second month of quarantine and we're all starting to go a little bit stir-crazy. The good news is that we're all in good health both physically and financially, but it's been a lot harder than normal to get work done.

The other half of the unique circumstances relates to the burden of some obligations in my personal life that suddenly materialized in April 2020. Now that we're in to May I expect to get back to something resembling my normal schedule, Quarantine permitting...

Nevertheless, there are indeed some concrete changes to report on, however, mostly having to do with Items, Towns, and pacing.

  • Added two new towns / shopping locations
    • White Hats: Added between Battles 4 & 5
    • Black Hats: Added between battles 9 & 10
  • Updated items
    • Designing two new swords
    • Designing two new guns
    • Designing two new armors
  • Fixed some bugs with shops
  • Fixed some bugs with armor
  • Fixed popup bestiary visualization (more consistent bars)

Thanks as always for your patience!
